Jen Hartvickson

Jen Hartvickson travels the country speaking to schools, art associations and after school programs about the importance of setting goals and making plans. Jen is the chief marketing ambassador for Ringtail Learning products.

Prior to co-founding Ringtail Learning, Jennifer was the Executive Director of Academic Partnerships for Kaplan University. In this role, she developed continuing education opportunities for students of both nationally and regionally accredited institutions. In previous roles, Jennifer has run Kaplan University admissions and field outreach teams. She also spearheaded the KU On-Campus initiative and created a pathway for Kaplan Higher Education ground campus graduates to continue their studies online at Kaplan University.

Hartvickson has extensive background in forward-thinking educational ventures. She served as Director of Marketing and Operations at A.S.K. Learning, formerly an interactive media and design firm based in San Francisco. She also served as co-founder and Campus Director of InsideTrack Learning, a student recruitment and retention services organization.

Jennifer sits on the board of California Dollars for Scholars and is an active member of the Stanford Fund Leadership Circle. She is a graduate of Stanford University and holds a Master’s in Education and a Bachelor’s in Sociology.

Hans Hartvickson

Hans is passionate about the importance of education and the opportunity to use stories, songs and experiences to make learning approachable for all. Hans coordinates the content development and production efforts for Ringtail Learning. Prior to co-founding Ringtail Learning in 2010, he co-founded publisher Philadelphian Press, inc in 2006.

Hans earned an M.B.A from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a double major in finance and marketing. While attending Wharton, Hans served as the president of Wharton Toastmasters. Hans earned a B.A. from Stanford University, where he majored in economics, earned a secondary major in public policy, and served as president of Stanford’s chapter of the SAE fraternity.

In addition to his work in the publishing industry, Hans spent 10 years in financial services, as a Vice President at an investment bank and a Senior Research Analyst at a San Francisco hedge fund.

Maia Smith
Community Education Director

Maia works with teachers and administrators to coordinate Ringtail Learning’s community outreach and literacy programs. In this capacity, Maia coordinates author/school visits, student writing contests, and other events that foster literacy and creativity in the communities Ringtail Learning serves.

Maia earned her Bachelors degree from the University of Virginia in American Government and Latin American Studies. Since college, she has worked in international development, building partnerships between businesses and citizen sector organizations on issues such as drinking water and affordable housing. Pursuing her multiple passions has led her to backpack through South East Asia and India, develop excellent sewing skills, and perform as a salsa dancer.

Blake E. Foss
Chief Technical Officer

As the Chief Technical Officer of Ringtail Learning, Blake creates the web presences for Ringtail Learning authors and artists, coordinates and develops e-commerce initiatives, and manages the company’s general IT needs. Blake’s background includes extensive experience in web application development and commercial art and design, which enables him to provide a fusion between creative and technical. He has been involved in web development since 1996 and has worked with several education focused companies, including ASK Learning. Blake is an accomplished photographer and videographer. He is originally from Sydney, Australia.

Dave Haberman
Audio Learning Developer

Dave channels his love of music and his passion for education into the creation of fun and subtly educational songs. Doug’s songwriting credits include tracks for the Mister Lemur, Lemur Pup and Scheming Lemurs brands. Before joining the Ringtail Learning team, Dave worked as an elementary school teacher and as a volunteer reader for the Panetta Institute. He has a particular interest in working with special needs children and believes that music can be a powerful teaching tool for many non-traditional learners.

Dave is proficient on several instruments and teaches guitar and mandolin lessons in his free time. He and his wife Lauren have a daughter.

Doug Allen

Doug enjoys sharing his musical gifts with young people to help them get excited about reading, writing and learning. A bit of a prodigy, Doug has been playing music since the age of seven and recording and producing albums since the age of 17.

Before joining the Ringtail Learning team, Doug was a member of Nural, a touring rock band signed to Hopeless and Atlantic Records.  Doug produced, mixed and recorded The Scheming Lemurs’ debut album Adventures In Your Head. In addition to his production duties, Doug contributes songwriting, vocals, and instrumentation to The Scheming Lemurs’ songs.

Doug plays several instruments and is the founder of Turino Studios.
